The Challenge
The COVID-19 pandemic had a profound impact on students, educators, and families, exposing the urgent need to prioritise emotional well-being in education. “Emociones Primero” was developed by Fundación Educación 2020, with the support of the U.S. Embassy, to promote socio-emotional learning (SEL) as a fundamental part of education.
When schools opened again, theres was a lot of pressure about the learning loss during the shut down and how to make up for it. The conceptualisation of this campaign was bringing to the public discussion the importance of social emotional learning more than ever, and provide quality content and practical tools to help school communities and families integrate SEL into their daily practices. It included four practical guides, a podcast series, and a webinar, all designed to support educators, students, and parents in fostering emotional resilience and well-being.
Process and Experience
The campaign was structured around four key phases:
- Research & Content Development
- We conducted extensive research on SEL models to ensure content was aligned with international best practices.
- Gathered real-life examples from Chilean schools to showcase successful strategies for promoting emotional well-being.
- Worked closely with psychologists, educators, and content writers to create engaging and accessible materials.
- Multimedia Production
- Developed four downloadable guides, each focusing on a different pillar of SEL.
- Produced a podcast series featuring discussions with educators, psychologists, and students, presenting SEL in an engaging and relatable format.
- Designed a webinar for school staff, providing a space for educators to learn from international experts and share experiences.
- Campaign Launch & Outreach
- Created a dedicated website where users could download resources, listen to podcasts, and register for the webinar.
- Designed a social media campaign to increase engagement and encourage conversation around SEL.
- A media campaign got significant coverage of the campaign which amplified its message and helped putting the topic on the public agenda.
- Community Engagement & Impact Measurement
- Collected feedback from educators, students, and families to measure the campaign’s effectiveness.
- Tracked engagement based on downloads, podcast plays, and webinar attendance, ensuring continuous impact.
by school staff and families.
The Outcome
The campaign achieved significant results in just three months:
✅ 12,450 downloads of the socio-emotional learning guides, demonstrating strong demand for resources.
✅ 1,652 podcast plays, indicating interest in an alternative, accessible learning format.
✅ 3,028 attendees in the webinar, highlighting educators’ need for expert-led discussions on SEL.
Beyond these metrics, “Emociones Primero” successfully positioned SEL as a crucial component of education. The campaign provided educators and families with practical tools to support emotional development, fostering a more holistic approach to learning.
